ABOUT

Kumu Makana graduated as part of Papa ʻŪniki ʻAʻaliʻi in 2022 under Kumu Hula Rolanda Mohala Reese, who studied under Master Kumu Hula Maʻiki Aiu Lake and Master Kumu Hula Mae Kamāmalu Klein.  Makana was a haumāna of Hālau Hula Nā Meakanu O Laka O Hawaiʻi for 26 years and spent 19 years as alakaʻi (student teacher) of the advanced wāhine class.  She is now very excited to be sharing her love of hula through Hālau Hula Laʻikūokealaula.  Classes emphasize hula & oli basics, while also creating a positive atmosphere to learn and forming a lasting bond as a hula ʻohana.
